MercRacing Audi Heat Exchanger Tubing Install Notes

1 minute, 2 seconds Read

In 2024, MercRacing redesigned the heat exchangers with swappable lower fittings, allowing the end user to install the IN flow (lower tube) according to the vehicle they own or their desired configuration. For example, B8 S4 has heat exchanger pipes divided between the driver and passenger sides.

Important Installation Notes:

  • While not required, you may use thread seal tape to protect the aluminum threads and as an additional precaution against leaks if the Viton seals fail.
  • When installing the tube and cap, please do not tighten to the point that you crush the O-ring seal and break/crush it or damage the threads and cause the aluminum to bind.
  • It is normal for the O-ring to remain visible.
  • A good 1/4 (45deg.) to 1/2 (90deg.) turn should be sufficient to make a good surface seal.

For custom applications where the customer desires to use threaded fittings and hoses, the Threads are 1/2″ NPT. This allows the users to install their own fittings according to their project.

AudiC7Owners goes over this topic in detail in the video above. (please note this is an install on an older version HX but the procedure remains the same)
